As I get older, the friends I had from way back have now found their own lives, and we just don't seem to have much in common anymore. Unfortunately, those friendships felt like I was running a never ending race or playing a game of HORSE with people who knew nothing about basketball. I find myself drifting to people who are like me and have similar expectations as I.

You ever heard of those people who tend to take relationships super seriously? Welp. That's me. I picture it this way, if I like you, I love you and if I dont like you, you know it. My loyalty means the most to me and so does my friends. Loyalty can be a gift and a curse. See, you can be loyal and the reciprocity can be endless, or you can be loyal and you can be left in the smoke. However, once the smoke clears what you give is what you recieve. It may not be from that particular person you want it from, but trust me, you'll get it.

There is that old cliche' saying that it is needed to befriend people who want the same as you and have similar goals in order to maintain positive vibes, but what they dont tell you is to watch out for the shiftless and deceitful. The ones who are pessimistic towards your outlook. Those that want what you have and what you're after. Those who undermine your ideas and aspirations so that they can obtain the ultimate prize. And because you trust this person so much, you begin to look over their objections and dream killing. You may even second guess yourself, maybe you're jumping the gun. Thinking that what they are telling you is only constructive and they are looking out for your best interest, when in reality it's their best interest. Self Preservation is the first Law of Nature. Learn it, live it, act accordingly.

There is more to competition amongst female friends then the friendly "I wanna wear my black dress tonight, so you cant wear yours" type of race. I am talking about the ruthless rat race for careers, finance, men, lifestyle and overall health. Sharing your vision for all of the above could be detrimental to your plan. Sure, she (your friend) should be happy for you. Anyone who is FOR you would be. However, there are those who are just WITH you...until the gun is cocked and the race has started.
