Wife, Mother, Actress and budding star Reagan Gomez is back! She took time out of the spotlight to raise her 17 month old daughter but now this new mom is ready to make an even bigger splash in the movie world. You may remember as the oldest daughter, Zaria, in The Parenthood where she co-starred with Robert Towsend. Now Reagan is ready to forge a new future that includes writing, modeling and acting.
Empress: It's been a minute since we’ve seen you in a music video, what made you play TI's love interest in his most recent video 'Whatever You Like'?
Reagan: The last music video I did was Rueban Studdard’s “Sorry For 2004″ video. So that was a while ago. I really don’t do alot of videos. But when I heard T.I. had personally requested me, and that Dave Meyers was involved. I wanted to do it. And the treatment was great so I was all in.
Empress: Your role as Zaria in the sitcom The Parent Hood is what you're known most for but you have been involved with many projects since then, what has been your favorite acting role so far? Why?
Reagan: My favorite character I’ve played……..let’s see. I have a few actually. I loved playing “Francine” on my last tv show “Love Inc”, I also liked playing “Lena” in “Trois 3 The Escort” I got to be sly and slick, and a murderer, which is always fun…lol. I didn’t necessarily LOVE playing a herion addict in “Never Die Alone”, but I did get to show my range, and that I can act. I’m not just a pretty face.
Empress: What would be your ideal future acting role?
Reagan: I don’t really have an IDEAL character that I’d like to play, I’d just like to make smart choices and portray women with depth.
Empress: I’ve heard that you also directed TV Shows Like The Parkers, In The House, That’s So Raven, New York Undercover And Others. Is there any truth to that? If so what do you like about being behind the camera?
Reagan: I’ve actually never directed any tv show. However I do write. I co-wrote an episode on The Parent’hood. That became my priority when I was pregnant. I wrote my first feature and I’m really close to having a home for it. So I’m serious about writing. Whether it’s my article in King, that I wrote on the election, or my film, you’re going to see alot more writing from me.
Empress: Do you have any advice for any upcoming actresses who want to get in the game? How can they make themselves stand out from the rest?
Reagan: The only piece of advice I can give someone who wants to be an actor
is, STUDY YOUR CRAFT.
Empress: You have been married for 10yrs, but overall together with your husband since you were 15, How did you know at such a young age he was the one?
Reagan: I was lucky to find my husband at such an early age. I can’t explain how I knew, I just did. We’re both very fortunate. We have amazing family, and they’re our priority. That’s our REAL life. Our daughter is our REAL life. Everything else, comes second.
Empress: You had a baby in 2007 and your body is still on point, do you watch what you eat or exercise?
Reagan: My daughter is 17 months now, and NO i do not stay in the gym. I do try to watch what I eat. Just because you have a child doesn’t mean your body has to be DOW DOWN….lol. It’s all about how you feel. Everybody gains weight. It’s just about how you want to lose it, if you do want to lose it. It kind of fell off of me. But i nursed my daughter, and I booked a job on a tv show 2 months after having her. Was I starving myself…..HELL NO! She came first. Plus my family would’ve strangled
me….lol.
Empress: Any upcoming projects coming out that we should be looking out for?
Reagan: I have a few things in the works right now. I actually went to a table read the other day, with an amazing cast for a film. So I’ll keep you posted. I did a film with Preston Whitmore and Wood Harris earlier this year called “Dough Boys”. Besides that, I’m enjoying my time being a mom. I love it. I’ve been working since I was 14, so this has been a nice break.
Empress: Where can your fans go to get up to date information on you?
Reagan: People can hit me up or find out what I’m doing on my myspace page.
