Empress had
the priviledge to catch up with Yummy Bingham, the 20 year old
Queens native, as she did a short promotional tour in NYC. Her
laid back and likeable personality kept this interview fun and
relaxing.
S.R:
What can you bring to R & B that you feel is missing right
now?
Pretty
much, more of a real grit, a little bit more edge sass and more
hip hop. Of course people want r&b to be r&b but hip hop
is such a huge force right now and it has always been.
S.R:
How has hip hop influenced your style?
I
always incorporate hip hop into everything I do, from what I wear
to the way I talk, to the people I hang with. I have always had
that in me, that hip hop edge. I want my work to be a bit more
gangsta
S.R:
I know your album is coming out pretty, what can we look forward
to?
I
have a mixtape out already called Yummy Bingham Black Radio. I
rap and I sing, but I am more of a hip hop singer, so you will
see a lot of that type of mix on my new album 'First Seed'.
S.R:
So we can look forward to hearing your rap skills?
I
will be rapping and singing on my album but
more so on my mixtapes you will hear me flowing. This is my first
go around and everyone is used to me singing, but there
will be more time for me to rep for that. end
