Self Survivor /// How to Avoid Being Kidnapped
- Shaleia Reid

woman with childAs women we must be aware of our surroundings. Some of us can give a man a run for his money if ever in a physical fight, but the truth is men are physically stronger then us. This list was created so women would know what to do and what to be aware of, in order to prevent an attack or kidnapping. This list is not in any particular order.

1.The #1 place women are abducted from/attacked at is grocery store parking lots. #2 is office parking lots/garages, and # 3 is public restrooms.

2.Attackers are usually looking for women they can easily moved to a second location.

3.If you are taken to a second location, try to scratch your kidnapper. If you are found, his DNA will be under your fingernails, increasing the chances of your attacker being caught.

4.Men look for in a potential victim by their hairstyle. They are most likely to go after a woman with a ponytail, bun, braid or hairstyles that can easily be grabbed.

5.Attackers also look for women on their cell phone, searching through their purse or are preoccupied doing other activities while walking. They target women who are off guard and can be easily overpowered.

6.Go under a parked car if possible.

7.Play dead. Don’t move, make the abductor pull you, you will be too heavy for him to carry.

8.Stastics have shown that 2% of the rapists interviewed said they carried weapons because rape carries a 3-5 year sentence but rape with a weapon is 15-20 years.

9.Never go to the second location, more than likely you will not be found if this happens. So scream, kick, do anything to get someone’s attention.

10.If you still have access to your cell phone, call 911 and say " I need help" or leave the phone off the hook if you cannot. The police can trace your location anywhere.

11.If locked in a trunk, knock out its taillights and try to stick your fingers out. Pound on the car to set off its alarm.

Don't become totally paranoid, just take precautions when you are alone. Before you know it, it will be second nature. Have fun just be aware of your surroundings and people around you. end
