Perception is a powerful thing. Most of us live our lives with the best of intentions, but it doesn't always elicit the most favorable perceptions from others. What is more, sometimes the harder we try, the worse a situation becomes.

How Do You Set and Achieve Life Goals?

Gurus tell us to get on in life you must set goals. Mark Twain said, ‘I could show the whole world how to get what they want in life, trouble is very few people know what they want.’

So how do you set a goal? How do you plan to reach that goal? I agree with Mark Twain but I believe that people can set goals when shown how to discover what they really want.

Say “Yes” to You

Timing is everything. When someone asks you to do something, how strong is the need to respond right away? You feel the pressure and likely to say “yes.” Later when you have had time to think about it, you regret that choice. People want you to respond under pressure. That way it is on their timeframe and not yours. They are in control.

Recognizing Your Skills and Abilities

Going out into the job market can be a frightening prospect, especially if you are trying to branch out in a different direction than the type of work you are used to doing. It can seem as though employers are only interested in those individuals who have experience with certain techniques or who have performed similar types of work previously; with a bit of research, however, you will quickly find that there are a number of opportunities available to you so long as you are able to present the skills necessary to do the job.

Finding a dream job is something we all wish for and it is also something we all often believe is unattainable. But the truth is that, as cliché as it may sound, anything you want to do you can.
