Fall meet Taysha, Lorene, and Ruby the new stars of reality TV. Making
of a Beauty Mogul is hitting the DVD circuit this spring
if you can't wait to see it on TV. This show has a whole new twist.
No silly contests, no sleeping in a tent if you have a bad day,
no voting off, none of that nonsense. Get ready to follow the lives
of successful women who just need the tools to be the next big
thing.

This show
gives you a hardcore look at what it takes to be a Beauty Mogul.
Think it's all fun and games, well you are in for a suprise. Taysha,
the creator of Making of a Beauty Mogul and the owner of numerous
beauty ventures such as the world's most expensive masacara, has
equipped each woman with their own assistants, lawyers, accountants
and anything else a fabulous mogul will need. Are these women truly
cut for the business? Will they fail or succeed? Can they actually
be a BEAUTY MOGUL?
S.R: What
is your age, location and family background?
Ruby: 23
years young, born and raised in Brooklyn. I am from an upper
middle class very successful entrepreneurial family.
Lorene: I
was raised in Brooklyn I now reside in Queens New York. I went
to school at St. Johns University. I am 25 years old. I am currently
working on my skincare line which is called Sepia Skincare, I
have an outwear line (Mestif) for women which is launching Fall
2007, and I am also working on a book.
S.R: How
is this show different from other beauty and fashion reality
TV shows?
Taysha: This
is like a diary. You know how you used to watch MTV diary and
they showed you the behind the scenes activity of stars. That
is what this show is like, we will be commenting on it in studio
during certain scenes though. This is not a game show at all.
I don't need you lookin for chickens, how will that get you money.
Shows like that are stupid. I don't understand that, it is almost
insulting.
S.R: How
did you go about choosing Ruby and Lorene for the show?
Taysha: When
I was scouting for the show I had contestants submit business
plans, and business ideas. I wanted to see where they were planning
to go in business. I had them sumbit videotapes, I asked 21 questions,
like what is your vision, what is your seven year plan. I am
not into one hit wonders, I need complete visions. Why should
I care about you, and what you are talking about.
I
already had the cast outlined I just need people who would fit.
I knew I was looking for a future skincare mogul and a future haircare
mogul.I will be with these girls for a year and a half. They will
be living with me, so they needed to be the best. There is another
girl, Krista who will also be joining the cast. She is the beauty
domestic diva.
S.R: Did
you find Krista after the original selection?
Well
I was already in taping. Krista was just straight gangsta. She
got past security. i'm like wow, how did you get through. She's
been on girls behaving badly and in different music videos. Since
she is in the industry she understands the romance side of this
business, meaning you have to entertain people and know how to
carry yourself. She had a hard time getting in and she didn't know
how to start her line. Within in one day I sent her a whole outline
for her line and when she is ready to go she can go. Its all about
who you know and what they know. That is what business is.
S.R: Do
the ladies live with you?
Taysha: Yes,
we tape in a different location fo 6 weeks at a time. I have seven
different houses. I let them experience life the way I experience
it. We are in New York, Hamptons, Atlanta, we keep moving so forth
and so on. Season 1 takes place in Atlanta.
S.R: Has
there been times when you wanted to send the women home?
Taysha: The
thing is sometimes they didnt realize how much work goes on.
The first day they were here they were exhausted. They had no
idea how much work I do. There was a time when we did a photoshoot
and Ruby was tired and didn't eat and I told her there will be
many times when you don't eat. This is the business that you
are in it does not stop for you it will continue to go on.
They
were not used to the schedule or the grind. You work from when
you wake up until when you go to sleep. They are used to working
but they control the schedule, in this industry you don't have
the control. When the phones ring, and production needs you and
all of that, you have to be on. This industry looks alot more glamorous
then what it is.
S.R: So
they had a rude awakening?
Taysha: They
were like sponges but at the same time they learned things about
themselves. In this industry you can't take things personally,
that is a no-no. Not everyone will like your stuff but you have
to get over it. Then sometimes the work slacked, I needed it turned
up. I need people who can trust themselves, I don't like second
guessing. Don't ask me, it is your product not mine.
S.R: Hardest
challenge you have faced since taping?
Ruby: Realizing
that all my dreams are becoming a reality . Staying focused and
driven even when it gets hard.. Its so hard to stay focused when
there is so much to learn .
Lorene: The
hardest challenge would be to keep my full-time job and running
my company at the same time.
S.R: Taysha
has accomplished so much in the beauty industry. What have you
learned from her so far and how is it working with the Beauty
Mogul? Is she all that you expected?
Ruby: Staying
Awake! Taysha is an animal almost unhuman in her energy levels..LOL.
She opened my eyes to the fact that beauty is global .. and that
haute beauty is the only beauty category that has room for super
star brands.
Lorene: She's
more than what I expected. She works religiously to have
the status of Beauty Mogul. Her work ethic represents her
status. I have learned so much from her. Her method
of getting things done in this business is what I have taken in. Also,
she has helped me develop a thick skin and patience to deal in
this industry.
S.R: What
type of product do you have? What makes it different from what
is out now?
Ruby: I
have Haute Hair everything ! From 5,000 custom hand tied
hair pieces too $1849 blow dryers. Taysha helped me expand my
original hair collection . We built a seven year business plan
that includes every thing from a full on 77th&Park Beauty
School to a full mass beauty hair care line.
Lorene: Right
now I am focusing on my skincare line. My main focus is to get
Sepia up and running. There is actually three skincare lines, there
is Sepia skincare, the original line I came out with, Sepia Spa
and Sepia Resort.
S.R: Are
you ready for the attention you will be getting, when millions
of people get a look into your life and begin to judge you?
Ruby: Not
Really, Its a little scary I must admit. Its been an experience
just traveling with Taysha . Her aura always draws attention and
a crowd. Every place we went people wanted to know who we were
or who she is, with or with out the cameras on .
Lorene: Not
sure if anyone is ready for that. The best thing to do is
to take it one day at a time and remaining focused! Sometimes
over thinking and filling yourself with expectations makes things
a lot harder.
S.R: What other
ventures are you doing?
Ruby: I
am also working on a Haute Shoe line .. I love love loove shoes!
Taysha is funny and very down to earth she keeps a hectic schedule
and she runs a tight ship. It was a shock to find out that she
has major stake in a exotic skins farm in Thailand and
in South Africa . So we started
brain storming and because I love high fashion Taysha said Ruby
,"Start your own shoe line" . Its been a crazy ride and
this is just the beginning.
Lorene: I
have a book coming out and an outwear clothing line launching in
