beauty-blushThe key to applying blush correctly is to find the right color that matches your cheeks. After you have exercised or been out in the cold is the best way to find this color. You can also choose a blush color according to the color of your lips. The lighter your skin tone the lighter the color should be.

For a daytime look, choose a lighter blush color and for the nighttime a darker color blush. If you have oily or combination skin it’s usually best to use a powder blush. If your skin is dry, a cream blush can help to hydrate your skin. Sometimes it helps to even combine the powder and cream to make the color last longer on the skin.

1) Do everything else first. You must first apply the foundation, eye makeup, lipstick and concealer before applying the blush.

2) Before you put the blush on, make sure you apply a loose powder on top of the foundation or else the blush will just soak into the skin and if you have problem skin it could get blotchy. The loose powder gives a smooth surface for the blush.

- Use a full round brush to apply the blush powder, but do not use the same brush that you use for your loose powder.

3) Put some of the powder blush on your brush and tap the excess powder off gently.

4) Look at yourself in the mirror and smile so that you can apply blush only to the 'apple' of your cheeks. If you feel that you have applied too much you may use some translucent powder on the area to calm the color down. If you've applied to much cream blush you can use a tissue or napkin to blot the color off.

5) Once you have found the 'apple' of your cheeks gently brush up your cheekbone and blend toward the hairline.

For a more natural look blend your blush down your cheek. Use a bit of translucent powder on your cheeks for the perfect finish. Use makeup remover, a non-soap cleanser or baby wipes to clean your brushes.
